STORY SYNOPSIS:
A Sweet Insta-Love Meet-Cute with an identity reveal twist. Around 23k words.
Rebecca Martin - Becky - works in a currently-freezing souvenir shop in Central London, where it's mid-November, dark, pouring with rain, and it's about three degrees Celsius outside. Oh, and the shop has no door. On the bright side, she had a short, but interesting, conversation with one hell of a beautiful man who walked in out of the rain - who then introduced himself only just before he left the shop, and went vanishing back into the night.
It's a vaguely interesting tale to share with her best friend later, when they went out to see a gig. Becky and Selaeyna Scott have tickets that Selaeyna won, to see her favourite band, The Breakers, in "a closed-door intimate, acoustic performance" in a small place in Soho. Becky is meeting her friend straight after her shift ends that evening, so she's going to finally see what all the fuss about this band really is.
Becky's only going as moral support. Despite Selaeyna talking her ear off for the past three years about The Breakers, she's yet to have heard them, seen them, or had anything to do with them, so all she can do is hope that it won't make her too late for her Tube ride home afterwards.
But this dreary, thundering, downpouring night has more in store for Becky than she ever thought was possible. She and Selaeyna have been through a lot since they were only thirteen years old, and the past decade has not been too kind on them; they've both been left dealing with the scars of a trauma so hard, that neither of them are able to speak of it.
So, on this rather special night, those fears are going to be challenged, two young women are going to be given a chance, and all the Fates can do is see if they will...
Just Go With It.
