I went quiet for a second, before my words turned hostile again. "Don't pretend you're protecting me. You don't get to act like you care."
Something flashed behind Peter's eyes, something I hadn't recognized in him before. He lowered his voice, dangerous. "You don't get to decide what I feel."
The prospect that there was truth behind his words terrified me like nothing else. Peter's care was a dangerous thing.

(Beginning in August 1981)
Grace Brenner, daughter of Martin Brenner, is perfectly normal. That is, if you don't look too hard. Lucky for her, most people didn't.
The only thing she wants more than becoming a nurse, is a life far away from Hawkins, and especially far away from her father. By keeping her powers a secret from him, in fear of being taken under his control like the children back at his lab, that dream is almost attainable. But unfortunately for Grace, not everything goes according to plan.
In a split second, Grace's entire life and the future she dreamed of begins to drift out of reach. Trapped in the lab, she is forced to find her own place between the pain and the lies. Ironically, it only gets harder when she finds peace with the orderly she swore she hated.
Careful Grace, everyone has secrets they keep buried for a reason. When uncovered, they may just destroy you.
