[Set in Romanian-type vampire (Vampire Academy) world] Liviah Swider, a dhampir, gets very upset at her father who turns himself half-strigoi and runs away from her (Private/Boarding) school St. Vincent Bay Academy, in Worchester, MA, (In an old abandoned state hospital, that was transformed into a vampire school – it is in an isolated area in the woods –) to search for him. Nikolai Kozlovsky, who later turns out to be her mentor/instructor/tutor finds her hiding out in Warwick, Rhode Island after her best friend, Claire Blackmore accidentally gives away her location, takes her back to the school. When she gets back she develops a crush on her best-guy-friend, Ethan White. When Liviah finds out he does not like her, she somehow uses compulsion to try to get Nikolai to hook up with her. Liviah finds out she is a half-dhampir/half-Moroi. Nikolai does not report her and the incident or what she is to anyone. Nikolai finds Liviah, Ethan and 3 college aged kids with her playing a drinking game. Liviah tests her luck with Nikolai, and decides to try to hook up with a royal, popular moroi boy, but nikolai does not let it happen. The college kids eventually find out she is ½ and ½ and take her hostage. Professionally paid to kill and be a princess? Sounds good to me..

I woke up under a pile of rubble. There is no one nearby. I managed to crawl out to see that I was surrounded by collapsed buildings. I got what supplies I could and I am now on a journey looking for answers. How did I end up under that beam? Who did this? And most importantly. Who I am? What's my name?

Rose and Dimitri are the best guardians out there. When Lissa takes the throne, she needs to select her first guardian, the one who will always be by her side. Her first choice was obviously Rose. Problem was that the council was pushing for a guy called Dimitri to be her guardian because he has more experience than her and well looked more intimidating. Nonetheless they were both very skilled. In order to decide which of them would take the most wanted position in the guardian world, they'd have to compete against each other.

"Look. I have to make this short. Don’t try to contact me any further, because calling you and giving your father information is pushing my limits of safety way to much. You’re in trouble. I mean dhampirs are in trouble. You need to get home and shut off your water systems. Keep Lissa and Christian with you, but be more worried about yourself. Contact your father if he’s not already at your place. He’ll have more to tell you. We’re researching it. Until next time. Be safe Rose. Keep your family safe. And stay the hell away from water. I hope you can live through this. Bye and good luck.” She said this all quickly and then hung up. I couldn’t process it all. It was too much. What the fuck was she talking about? I guessed, I would find out very soon. I walked back to the table and told everyone to get up and leave. With the tone in my voice and the look in my eyes no one argued. I had no idea what was coming, but I knew I would keep my family safe.
