How's life?

Moments pass by swiftly. In those moments you'll assume you have the chance to reach out and grasp them. Just to hold on a while longer. In reality you'll be like me. You'll sit on your front porch, coffee in hand, and you'll remember. You'll remember the bad things in life. You'll cherish the good memories though. No one will come to see you in this stage. You will go through it alone. That is until you realize people stopped by all the time to check on you and you were too busy remembering the past to notice your present. So yes, the past can be kind and it can be unforgiving. In the circumstance of a tragedy, hold the people you love a little tighter. I should have. I have that opportunity now though. To live in the present. Your past won't motivate you. Even if it does most of the time that is out of bad intention. Live in today, not yesterday.

Stuck In Time By: Emily Maglin Prologue I slightly moved my thumb over the button. Nothing happened at first. Then I felt a swirling sensation. Almost like ten tornadoes were throwing me from one to another. Everything went still. Perfectly still. I stood on a grassy field. The wind was blowing gently, the sky was blue. Everything seemed perfect. I scanned my surroundings: trees, a shimmering lake, white fluffy clouds. Nothing out of the ordinary. I looked down, I was barefoot, and was wearing, a mammoth skin tarp? “What th-?” I began to state. Then an ear-shattering roar rippled across the meadow. Just my luck.

Story I wrote

Struggling to move on from the loss of his wife, a man meets a woman who will change his life. Solace is her name. Dillon finds his comfort in her, but still battles internally against the damage and guilt from his past love, eating him up inside. Slowly, Solace comes to realise just how broken Dillon is and unable to reach out to him and help him, she falls into a dark place of helplessness and depression. She might love Dillon, but he is also her downfall. What she wishes she knew before she met him: Don't give your heart to somebody with a broken heart.
