I've decided to keep a journal for the next week, per my mom's request. I guess she wants me to have some sort of documentation of what should be the best week of my life. I have Tourette Syndrome, which means I make movements and noises that I can't control, called tics. It's never done anything but close doors, make me an outcast. I had trouble making friends, getting jobs, heck, even making sports teams. But that's all going to change, because of some new treatment I've been doing. I'm going to be cured. I can finally be normal! Contains mild depression and mild language, nothing too intense but just be warned **IMPORTANT** Much of this story is based off of a medical condition called Tourette Syndrome. This is a neurological disorder in which the brain misfires instructions to other parts of your body, resulting in a movement or noise that is out of the person's control, called a tic. Tics occur subconsciously, however when the subject of Tourette or tics comes up, tics will happen more frequently and become more obvious. I (the author) actually struggle with this disorder which has made this story has been increasingly difficult to write, but that just makes me love it more and more. I'd like to clarify that my experiences are not the same as Natalya's, though Natalya's are not uncomment. **END IMPORTANT** This is a writing assignment I'm doing through the lovely Shut Up and Write Club. I was supposed to choose a character from a story I've written and write a diary for them, but I don't have many stories to choose from yet! I decided to use a story I wrote when I was very young, a story about a young girl beating this disorder. All right, enough from me though. On to the diary of the one and only Natalya Ross!
