Sometimes, when you dream, you dream something that's actually happening. Kyssilde lives with her mom and dad, until one day something extraordinary happens: she dreams. This is strange because Kyss has never had a dream in her entire 16 years. But unlike normal dreams, and also unlike visions in your sleep, she is transported to another world when she closes her eyes. In this alternate universe, everything is black- the trees are coated with ash and the ground is cracked tar. At first, it's just a weird dream; until in a nightmarish turn of events, the dark queen of the world recognizes her. Can Kyss be the hero this blackened people need? Or will her first dream be her last?
