Subplot Stories

Valaciel is fifteen again. It is January 2009, first day of a new term, and he is sitting in a classroom like any other student. That is the lie everyone else gets to believe. He remembers everything. He remembers dying alone at sixty-one. He remembers being pulled into Heaven and climbing for centuries as someone Heaven never wanted. He remembers the fall, the Void, and the long years inside it - years that felt like forever and ended with a wish he did not fully understand: to come back. When he wakes in 2009, the world has moved on without him. No one else remembers Heaven, or the war, or what was done to him. Only Val does. The world he returns to is stranger than it looks. Monsters spill from Gates that open in cities and forests and empty lots, and the people who fight them grow stronger with every clear. Angels and demons and old bargains sit behind ordinary life, and Val is trying to learn how to be fifteen again while carrying the weight of someone who has already lived too much.

What Rain Remembers: A novel of quiet trauma, reluctant healing, and the delicate art of becoming whole. Liang Yuxi is a gifted surgeon, a secret artist, and a woman who has perfected the art of holding herself together. On the surface, her life is clean, orderly, and untouched-until a quiet suggestion from a beloved mentor leads her into therapy and into the heart of a past she's never spoken aloud. While her hands can mend others, her own grief remains untouched: the collapse of her mother, a school dance that no one talks about, and the guilt that lives in the silence between her and her sister. Through hesitant therapy sessions, intimate sketches, and the unexpected warmth of her hospital friends-including a calm-eyed doctor named Lin Jian-Yuxi begins to unravel the truth of what was lost, and what might still be found. As memories rise like rain on dry ground, Yuxi must choose between clinging to her emotional stillness or stepping into the slow, imperfect current of healing. But healing doesn't mean forgiveness-and sometimes, remembering is more powerful than letting go. What Rain Remembers is a lyrical, emotionally layered exploration of family, memory, and the quiet kind of love that doesn't save you-but stays.

As Jean investigates, she discovers that Nora was keeping secrets about the students, families, and institutions that run Tech Cardone Academy. But the closer Jean gets to the truth, the clearer it becomes that Nora's death was not the end of something. It was the beginning.
