*WARNING: Contains descriptions of self harm and suicide attempt* A lot of people have this idea about depression. They think that you can't be depressed unless something tragic has happened to you. If you self harm or are suicidal you're instantly depressed. Or that you're not depressed cause you still get out of bed every morning and go on about your life. Some people even go as far as saying that depression isn't real and people who say they have it are just lazy and do nothing all day. So if you're told all those things from when you're little, you're gonna start believing them. You're gonna start denying that you are suffering from a mental illness that is eating you alive from within. So instead of getting help you bottle everything up because you're too scared. Too scared of what the world might say. Too scared that people will invalidate your problems. But what happens when things start to get worse? What happens when you lose yourself? What happens when the last bit of hope you were holding on to, is gone?
