Summer Torres returns to Shorehaven after a full year away, expecting the familiar coastline, familiar faces, and the familiar rhythm of surfing to feel like home again. Along for the trip are Margot and Summer's cousin, Charli, a relatively new surfer who has quickly become hooked on the sport. With Charli's parents away on business, they decide that sending her to Shorehaven with Summer is the perfect opportunity for a "mini vacation". But the trip becomes far more serious when both Summer and Charli decide to try out for the Victoria State Surfing Team. Charli quickly learns that there is new bad blood surrounding Summer, particularly when it comes to Wren Radic. After hearing about Wren's intense dislike of Summer, Charli decides there's one thing she absolutely doesn't want to do during her stay: Get involved with the Radics. Unfortunately, Shorehaven has a funny way of making that impossible. Especially when it comes to Baxter Radic. Baxter has a reputation that precedes him. He's Shorehaven's resident bad boy-the kind of guy people warn you about before you've even met him. Reckless, unpredictable, and infamous for his fascination with fire, Baxter has earned himself a reputation as a troublemaker who never seems to know when to stop. She tells herself she wants nothing to do with him, his family, or the drama that seems to follow the Radics wherever they go. But the more time Charli spends in Shorehaven, the harder it becomes to stay away from Baxter. What starts as an inconvenient bantery friendship quickly becomes something neither of them quite knows how to handle.
