Najogólniej rzecz ujmując, można dzięki niemu poznać historię nastoletniego Gaary, który przeszedł wewnętrzną przemianę za sprawą Naruto. W tym ff będzie opowiedziane, jakie trudności spotykały przyszłego Piątego Kazekage, w jaki sposób przeżywał zachowanie ludzi i, co najważniejsze, kto mu pomógł podczas tej wyboistej drogi. Kiedy przyjrzałam się treści, podczas wstępnego edytowania, zrozumiałam, że „Tylko przyjaciel" jest wersją demo, pierwowzorem „Gosposi". Oczywiście, wiele rzeczy różni te dwa opowiadania, ale sposób przedstawienia Gaary i Sayuri jest bardzo podobny, a ich historia zmierza w dokładnie tym samym kierunku.
