Missing you comes in waves and tonight I feel like I'm drowning. (a Regulus POV)

In a modern muggle marauders AU, this story is told from James Potter's perspective. James Fleamont Potter has always wanted to fall in love, but this goal has proven to be unsuccessful. He's now in his final year at Hogwarts High School, and he's made it his mission to let it happen. One day he decides to introduce his two best friends, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black to each other and the two get along well. Maybe... too well. Will James be able to watch his two best friends fall in love with each other, knowing he doesn't have that kind of love for himself? Knowing that in all his fits of Jealousy but also happiness for them, he was the real cause of all of it?

"on the other hand, slytherin's seeker regulus black is still perfectly fine, looking even better than normal with his hair tousled from the wind and cheeks flushed. i really don't know how i can normally take away my eyes from him on the pitch." he gives a dreamy sigh and leans his head on his hand as the wind carries regulus' voice to him "shut up, potter." he gives the younger a wink and says in a low and hushed voice (still louder because of the microphone) "make me." at that regulus takes the bat from one of the beaters and hits a bludger his way. the magical field protecting the stand he's at keeps it away tho. "always so feisty, the little one, isn't he? but that's one of his many many charms." james chuckles into the microphone. or james has to commentate quidditch match and sirius being the little menace he is puts veritaserum in his drink

The thing about James Potter is that he does everything to the maximum, even the smallest and most insignificant of the things. He does not simply enjoy living, because he does it at his fullest. He does not simply care for his friends, because he cares so deeply about them that all of his problems are forgotten, disappeared in clouds of thought. He does not simply love people, because in loving them he puts all of his time and energy. So when one night he finds a racoon skit shivering from the cold it's no wonder he picks it up. Without knowing it, this will bring him crossing paths with Regulus Black, a part-timer at a local shelter. The rest is history. (OR James acts like a good samaritan and meets Regulus. Weirdly enough, they end up working together, stealing a cat, and somewhere along the way even falling in love.) (hey I literally wrote this in one night on notes and I thought I should publish it cause I love jegulus wolf start and rosekiller dorlene) A day before Regulus has to get the dark mark he cries in his room hoping someone would come to save him, he missed his brother, his friends, his James mean while all of them are plotting against Voldemort to take him down and get their Reggie back as soon as possible Regulus and James had started talking for a few weeks before James dragged Regulus over to Sirius and had them talk it out with of course Remus there to make sure everything is under control after a while Regulus and his friends joined the marauders as one group and they all became friends

the loveliest people have the worst luck. Remus had found this over all his years knowing Sirius. The loveliest person he had ever known. And the most unfortunate. this is a thing im writing mainly on ao3, im posting here because i like comments lol fuck jk rowling.
