Alina and Alexander were stuck in an endless loop of rebirth, but when one died they never knew when they would come back sometimes months but sometimes decades. The second time that Alina died when she was murdered Sasha lost control and created the fold and was known as the black heretic. When Alexander was murdered Alina lost control and razed an entire village to the ground getting the nickname sun witch.

Stories tell in Middle Earth of the Grisha. Though nobody knew they ever existed, or if they survived and lived in hiding there from any wars and slavery. Some thought they were witches and wizards like the 5 wizards who lived in Middle Earth. But the Grisha go by different titles due to their gifts and little alchemy. But what they didn't know, was the twins who were birthed with the legendary powers of the two rare Grisha who fought each other, one wanted all Grisha to rule all of Ravka, but the other wanted to stop him from causing such chaos and destroy the Fold that separates the west and east of Ravka. But nobody ever found the twins, or what they looked like. Some say they were inseparable, some tell the times they stole from the bad rich fat cats, to give to the poor. Some say they were heroes who protected the people from the armies of the evil one. But that was centuries ago, Nobody ever heard from them again. Some believed they died during battle, but they were suppose to be immortal. Some say they may be in hiding, or were captured. But nobody ever found them. Their disappearance was a mystery, but it grew more to a myth. But, What they don't know, was they were given rebirth, never to separate, and left all their knowledge to their one and only reincarnation. This story explains Nikolai Lantsovs backstory and how he came to be who he is today. This story has a purpose later on. I am writing a story on Nikolai Lantsov x Alina Starkov, but I just wanted to share the backstory of the two. This information came from the internet, but hopefully it helps clear up things for people who haven't read the Shadow and Bone books or people who just want to learn more about Nikolai. A few days after Alina and I escaped the clutches of my brother, the former Ravkan general of the Second Army, Aleksander Kirigan, we parted ways. I went with Kaz Brekker and his gang of thieves, affectionately nicknamed the Crows, back to Ketterdam, while Alina Starkov and her friend, Mal Oretsev, left for other lands beyond the walls of Os Alta. In Ketterdam, I made a name for myself, aiding Kaz and the Crows in all manner of criminal behaviour, forgetting that I was ever the younger sister of the Black Heretic. But I've lost everything I've ever known. I don't know where my mother or my dear friend Genya is - sometimes, this new life is unfamiliar and uncomfortable, especially within the tight, damp spaces of Ketterdam, this sprawling criminal town that seems so big and yet so small. Or within the base of the Crows that I sometimes call home - or the feelings that I seem to feel for Kaz Brekker. Kaz and I still don't understand each other, and I don't think we ever will. Alina and Mal set off across the sea, and from what I heard, they were going in search of the second of Morozova's creatures, the Firebird. Alina hopes that with the help of the Firebird and the Stag as Grisha amplifiers, that she might be able to take down the Shadow Fold for good. I know that my brother, Aleksander Kirigan, did not die that day in the Fold, and that one day he would come to exact his vengeance upon his lost Sun Summoner and all of Ravka. As Kaz prepares to unleash fresh hell on old foes, and as Alina prepares to hopefully end the terror of the Darkling once and for all, I myself am preparing for a war on both sides. A war to protect my newfound friends and family, the Crows, and a war to protect my people, the Grisha.

Weeks after the darklings death Alina has become hopeful that he faked his death. She has left everyone she had once believed to love in search for the man she had fallen for and nothing will stop her. Not even death as it's a constant shadow trying to take hold of her with every step she takes. Alina will do anything to find the man she loves no matter what will happen in the end.

She never had much. She threw herself into everything she did. She had something to prove. She may not have been the Sun Summoner but Jolana Sokolov had quite the journey ahead of her. Avoiding being seduced by the beauty and power of darkness was more difficult than she originally anticipated.

Once she was an explorer of the stars and now she was a Star Summoner (well official title was 'Sun Summoner'). As Alina she decides to use her powers for the good of Grisha that have fallen through the cracks before she has to fully reveal who she is...before it's time to use her powers to topple governments and wage wars.
