As for clarifying the setting, I sat down to edit for setting, and realized that my problem with this practice novel is that it was written for one particular person, which is why I had so much trouble making the place definite at the start. I also thought about Marie's entrance: I'd meant to convey that expected noises were identified, and thus less likely to set off panic.

The Mind Link Project; a revolutionary new way to improve below average students. The children would be partnered up with another student around the same age, and they'd be connected via a telepathic link. Through this link, students could talk to their partners and their grade level would rise at least 20%. Sadly, this dream was not a reality for too long. Children started reacting negatively to the Project five months after it's startup, the effects becoming worse and worse as time went on. It started with harmless little things, like silly insults and discord between Linked children. Unfortunately, this project causes even more atrocities, as many of the children were looked over due to faulty equipment and lazy removal surgeons. When these children reached adulthood, the chips became permanently fused to their skulls, impossible to remove without killing the host. It was at this time that power hungry government officials, who had bribed their way out of the memory loss, discovered that these microchips were highly susceptible to foreign software. It was a way for scientists to update the microchips when the students became adults. An ingenious idea, but was now being used to corrupt the Mind Link children and turn them into puppets of war. There had never been that many mass suicides in a year.

Her name was June, named for the month she was born. She is a young and bright girl who lives on the countryside with her father and older brother. Her mother had left her when she was three. Now at age 16, June is making her life, she attends school in the closest city to her home, which happens to be 20 miles away. Her dad drives her to school every morning and her brother picks her up every afternoon. A typical day for June consists of waking up at 6:00 AM, leaving for school by 7:00 AM and starting school by 7:45 AM. She is a Junior in high school and has 6 classes each day, AP Physics, AP World History, AP Statistics, AP Language and Composition, Drawing, and Programming. She goes through these classes every day and ends school at 2:30 PM. By 3:00, she is back home and doing homework. Generally, June would spend two and a half hours studying, go eat dinner at 5:30 PM and after that, go outside to the barn to ride her horse, Misty, then groom and feed her before putting her in her stall for the night. This had always been a typical routine for June, until recently. Her life was taking a turn as she was beginning the Junior year of her high school career. She met someone on that first day of high school, someone who would change her life. His name, Greyson, a transfer student to Jefferson High.
