Emery Vale is the last Seer-a mortal girl whose blood can break the curse keeping vampires trapped beneath the earth. Hunted all her life, she's finally captured by Rhydian Voss, a ruthless vampire prince determined to use her to destroy the human world. But Emery is more powerful than he expected. And Rhydian is more dangerous than she's ready for. He was supposed to use her. She was supposed to run. Instead, they become addicted-to power, to pain, to each other. He'll burn the world to keep her. She might let him.

I was sitting at the table in the café where we were supposed to meet. The hours were dragging on and I was getting worried. He should be here, he should have called at least. Leaning back in our booth Stacy, a waitress me and Sam had got to know over the last few years, came over with a concerned look on her face. “Still not here?” She asked me. I simply shook my head. Giving me a sad smile she placed her hand on mine. “I remember back two years ago, you must have been what? Sixteen. And he got down on his knee and said…” “I want you forever, forever and always. Through the good and the bad and the ugly.” I finished for her, remembering the way he had looked at me and how I had nearly cried when I kissed him. Just as I said it my phone rang. The brittle sound seeming to crack my ice filled veins.

After losing lots of weight, Carly heads back to school with a smile on her face. But the new boy Sam changes everything, including Carly's friends. When Sam finds out that Carly is the only girl that isn't madly in love with him, he's determined to change her mind.

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Beat egg yolks, 4 tablespoons white sugar and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until thick and creamy. Pour cream into a saucepan and stir over low heat until it almost comes to boil. Remove the cream from heat immediately. Stir cream into the egg yolk mixture; beat until combined. Pour cream mixture into the top pan of a double boiler. Stir over simmering water until mixture lightly coats the back of a spoon, about 3 minutes. Remove mixture from heat immediately and pour into a shallow heat-proof dish. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight. Preheat oven to broil. In a small bowl combine remaining 2 tablespoons white sugar and brown sugar. Sift this mixture evenly over custard. Place dish under broiler until sugar melts, about 2 minutes. Watch carefully so as not to burn. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
