To my parents, I'd been Toby. To my aunt and uncle, I was Toby Johnna. At Wilderness, I became nothing more than the girl with the bluejay tattoo. It didn't matter to anyone that I was a good student at school, or wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. No one cared. I wasn't a drug user, or a prostitute, or even severely depressed. That didn't matter either, because out here I was just as bad as those things. The Wilderness program isn't a therapy, it's a prison camp. My escorts weren't my angels, they were my kidnappers. The happy trees and squirrels that surrounded me didn't become my sanctuary. There's a reason why the scariest parts of horror movies are the suspenseful chase through the woods. Because out here in the wilderness, no one can hear you scream.

"I thought you were gone so I killed him for you, that's how much control you have over me!" Derek snapped as he threw a glass at the wall the shards shattering falling to the ground. "And I'm still here! That's how much control you have over me!" I snapped back taking a step towards him. "I love you Derek... " "Listen to us, this is toxic" he said pain and restraint in his voice as he gestered to the both of us. "We are in a toxic relationship Tet, I just killed a guy and you try to find someone else to blame! " I couldn't keep going like this I knew we weren't good for each other, but he was like a drug to me, I wanted him and only him. our relationship is like a toxic poisin that keeps making you coming back for more no matter how hard you try and resist it. He's my kryptonite and I his, I guess fate really is as cruel as they say.

A series of poems and short stories I've written about the darkest parts of me. I always found it easier to express myself with writing instead of talking. I can say anything about the pain I bare and no one has to believe it, not even me, because I didn't actually speak it Suppression according to Webster's dictionary means "the conscious intentional exclusion from consciousness of a thought or feeling. -DR

Published in 2012 by Flash Fiction World. What would the world be like if women had no voice? Would they rise up and move to reclaim what belongs to them? On the same lines as Handmaid's Tale, this short piece brings into question what might happen when we are pushed to the edge.

Imagine a world where schizophrenia isn't considered a mental illness, but is actually a complex and diabolical scheme the government invented to take control of those who have been 'diagnosed'. In reality, that population have actually been born with a gift that gives them the ability to see into other dimensions and communicate to those that live within it - but that ability has been labelled as 'delusions' and 'psychosis'. These gifts are extremely powerful, and the governments around the world have been threatened by these abilities for centuries as they view them as a threat to their power. Written by AI after I gave it the prompt and guidance, this story delves into what this could be like. Enjoy...
