People could hardly believe their eyes, they had to step outside to confirm the miracle. Children played under it for the first time in their lives. Thousands recorded videos. Millions watched live broadcasts as the moment spread across the country in real time. Everyone was so relieved at the rain that they didn't even question why it felt as warm as skin. They welcomed it after years without it. They rejoiced, mouths opened under it calling it a sign, a miracle, an answer to their prayers. By sunrise they understood what they had welcomed. The rain was everywhere, people saw it standing outside their apartments, stores, hospitals or even train stations. No one knew when they arrived or where they had come from. no one had seen them arrive. Those who looked directly at them struggled to describe what they had seen. they only reported headaches, nausea, even gaps in memory that seemed to grow the longer they tried to remember. Authorities ordered citizens to remain indoors and avoid all contact but for many, the warning came too late. Because the things had already been standing inside their homes for hours.
