The Hunger Games X The maze Runner After escaping the Glade, Newt and the other gladers are "rescued" by the peacekeepers and forced into the reaping inside district 12, all mazes and teenagers from district 12 are present and possible victim to the game. Twice the number of usual tributes were chosen; 4 from each district, and Haymitch had been one of those unlucky 4. The odds had not been in his favor that year, but he had a reason to fight; for his loved ones, for the glory of District 12. Despite his circumstances, Haymitch remained somewhat optimistic about his chances of victory, promising his family that he would never back down no matter what happens to him in that arena. Throughout his journey he will make choices beyond anything he could have imagined, and make mistakes that are irreversible-especially in the Capitols eyes. But he does it all out of spite, because he had the heart and mind of a victor, even from the very beginning.
