This is completely fiction, but uses the real life people of Jay-Paul and his family. The information used in this story comes from the tv show Swamp People and news about them.

Former biology professor, TP Dunlap, has a terrible secret. He's been infected with a deadly parasitic creature called a chimera dragon, picked up while exploring a hidden land called Minglemist he discovered when he fell through a hole in his wax myrtle hedge. The only person he can tell is his unofficially adopted daughter, Madeline, because other than himself, she's the only one who can see Minglemist. He daren't tell others. They'll think he's crazy! TP is terrified of being locked up in an insane asylum. He's terrified of being driven mad or dying from the beastly creature. An ancient alchemical formula he's been working on may be the only hope for a cure. But distractions occur when he becomes a reluctant babysitter for his six-year-old great-nephew, Harold. Nosy neighbors and accidents besiege him.
