1) The narrator meets and falls in love with Remi, the daughter of a Mizo pastor, after being introduced through a mutual friend. They spend a blissful time getting to know each other and falling deeper in love. 2) However, Remi is concerned about their three-year age difference potentially causing complications down the line. During an argument about their relationship, the narrator angrily storms off after Remi tries to end things. 3) The narrator is overcome with grief following their breakup, struggling to find meaning or joy in life without Remi by his side. Gangtok now feels desolate and lonely rather than the lively place it was when they were together
