Saros Comstock has spent most of his life trying to be the kind of man his father already seems to be.
Steady. Patient. Good.
At eighteen, Saros is the oldest of four brothers, twin to Aven, unofficial second parent to Cael and Lior, and devoted caretaker of a deeply entitled pet chicken named Colonel. His family has always been close, loud, and a little ridiculous, but now everything is changing.
After years of extra shifts and quiet sacrifice, Saros's dad has moved the family to Deceptions End, a ferry town in the Cascadia Archipelago, where he and Saros's mother are building something new: a garage, a diner, a convenience store, and a home above it all.
For Saros, the new island means new roads, new water, new people, and a chance for his brothers to build lives of their own. But it also means watching his father finally step into the dream he worked so hard for-and wondering if Saros will ever become half the man Dad is.
Between ferry crossings, rain-soaked streets, family dinners, brotherly chaos, and the strange comfort of starting over, Saros learns that being good is not something a man simply is.
It is something he chooses.
Again and again.
For the people he loves.
