But they were not the only chimeric creatures to emerge. Other 'werewolves' had made themselves known, attacking humanity at every opportunity. Stronger, faster and tougher than the best of humanity, yet smarter and far more skilled than the Feral Hordes. The Nýúlfur. Pushed to their breaking point, humanity lashed out in hatred, if not in chemical, biological or nuclear hellfire, then by their force of arms. Today, only a handful of cities and nations survive, amongst them, the post-apocalyptic country of Cascadia. But the Ferals continue to prowl the world, whilst the Nýúlfur to continue to fight both human and Feral alike out in the wilderness. But things have started to change. One human survivor finds himself twisted and altered through immoral experimentation, leaving him an outcast. As he struggles to put what is left of his life back together, this survivor's newfound status gives him a unique insight into the world, and the true nature of the conflict between Humanity and the Nýúlfur. But soon, the mysterious Organisation that experimented on him in the first place will re-emerge. An Organisation with a peculiar connection to the Retrovirus itself... ONC Prompt 5 My cat likes leaving the house every morning at the same time. When this little habit of his causes me to burn my breakfast, I use his tracking collar to follow him on a whim, while searching for a decent cafe. My mind and body start to warp, as I find him and some other neighborhood cats at the back of an alley, in a small patch of grass, meowing in symphony. When I wake up from what I thought was a massive hangover, I find I am actually in what turns out to be my cats secret home world. Filled with magic instead of milk bowls. Lances instead of litterboxes. Monsters rather than meow-mix. What I thought would be another day at work, turns out to be a fight against evil that our cat friends have secretly been waging for centuries. (This is a bit of a tribute story to my cat who went out one day and never came home)
