In the sequel to Treachery Queen, the Seelie Court has declared its war on the world, and nothing will ever be the same. It has only been a week since Pasiphae of Eo entered a fake marriage alliance with the Seelie Crown Prince in a bid to forestall his mother's coming invasion on Medeis, Pasiphae's homeland. Now, those who were once enemies have disappeared into the shadows, while new contenders have clawed their way into power. Amidst the chaos, there is only one possible outcome that ends well for Medeis: Seth must have the Seelie throne, and Pasiphae takes it upon herself to ensure it. Meanwhile, Circe of Eo has turned diplomat. The Unseelie Queen knows that invasion is coming, and is desperate to snatch the Isles, where the humans make their home. To keep it from her grasp, the witches must conquer the land first, for the humans' own good. But the Isles has secrets of its own, and if Circe isn't careful, she may be swallowed by the rising tide. From a perilous journey into a country that kills all who enter, to a mission into the Seelie Court during its midnight sun, the two sisters will do anything to protect Medeis. Heads will roll, hearts will be broken, and if the world is to fall a second time, then so be it.

Updates Sunday and Wednesdays On what might have been an ordinary day, Ophelia the necrosylph gets kidnapped by a shiny portal that gives her temporary amnesia. According to the brownie sitting beside her, they're all waiting to be assigned a quest. Apparently signed up for volunteer quest duty. Beside her is a pyromaniac faerie burning obscenities into her wooden chair. On her other side is the ill-tempered brownie. A few chairs down a druid is screaming at the empty chair beside her. What appears to be a normal and handsome man joins via portal minutes later. They've all been summoned by the Council of Insufferable but Necessary Quests and Adventures (CINQA). Upon beginning the meeting with CINQA, the five volunteers discover they are not, in fact, the true questors. Instead, they have been specially chosen as the expendable decoy team. Though, should they somehow manage to succeed and return alive, the lengths of their various incarcerations will be lessened. They are not expected to survive or successfully complete this quest. They're guided by an ominous prophecy on a dangerous quest against an unknown enemy, racing an elite team who could probably beat them into dust. Ophelia, apparently recovering from her amnesia, gets flashbacks at inconvenient times. What she sees makes her wonder if she wants her memories back at all. The others keep secrets of their own. Meanwhile, their enemies are closing in and the pressure is on for them to prove themselves to their world and gain their freedoms.
