Nobody understands, nobody wants to hear. Some people listen but it's hard to get the point across properly when all the thoughts going on at the same time are hard to differentiate and form into a single thought process to say out loud. Most will say there's nothing wrong because everything seems fine, words are forming in full sentences, demeanor seems normal, and feeling so sad is normal sometimes. If there were a way to explore a sick mind that looks normal from the outside, would it be worth the effort to try to understand? If there were some way to see through the eyes of someone with psychological struggles that are hard to explain and virtually invisible, wouldn't it be easier to interact with and help those people? Sick like us is the first piece of a collection of allegories that are meant to bridge the communication gap between a less common perspective and a world that can't comprehend such an inconspicuous illness.

Abused, exploited, imprisoned, tortured... All their lives these two sisters have never been cared for by anyone except each other. Their strong bond gets them through each painful day, and in each other they find the love their hearts so long for. Leaning on each other as they endure the horrors of the modern farming system the sweet hens wish desperately for mercy and soon dream of a better world. But how can such a small hen make such a huge change, or even just survive the deadly conditions? Among the cruelty they face, can kindness rise after all? *AUTHOR'S NOTE: This novel is a work in progress, thus the chapters aren't yet in their proper order and there are gaps to be filled. I am working on the book spontaneously, depending on which piece I'm inspired to write, so expect pretty random, unorganized updates with new parts placed between already complete ones, changes being made to previous chapters, etc. I hope that's okay and that my messy update process doesn't interfere with your reading. :) Thank you for understanding!
