I've recently entered this story for the 2016 Wattys! Wish me luck, and remember: every vote counts!! Here, she'll meet new friends, reconnect with her father, and discover a love that flips her upside down and breaks down all the walls she's ever put up, changing her perspective of the whole world. Especially not in front of Michael. He kissed my forehead and held me tightly as he comforted me. I held back tears and stared blankly ahead at room of people. Michael rubbed my back and hummed softly. "I'm okay." I said after a while. Michael took my face in his hands once more and stared into my eyes. The worried look on his face told me he knew I was lying. I wasn't okay. But I didn't want Michael to know that. I studied the ground. Avoiding eye contact with him. He could see through me. He could read me like a book. Just as always.
