Please note: Hummingbird Hymns is not Trinidadian-Indigenous exclusive. We will be focusing on all Trinidadian voices because of the unique, shared and welcoming culture.

She daydreams about playing on her gameboy and 123 Pescao with her little brother, Alejandro, and hanging out with friends at the beaches of San Juan. Then her mami packs up the whole family in Papi's car and sets their destination for her estranged abuelo's home in Camuy. Upon meeting her abuelo, she notices how dismissive he is to her mami and how he makes everything about himself, souring her impression of the man. The last thing Irene expected was to find a huge mirror covered in Taíno markings in his office. When she and Alejandro touch it, a portal bursts to life. And to make things worse, her abuelo pushes them both through it, thrusting them into a world of magic, monsters, and where the gods are as real as you and me. Speaking of gods, on Irene and Alejandro's arrival, she accidentally cuts her hand on a statue which awakens an ancient Cacica, a warmongering chieftain whose magic was so powerful she had to be sealed away in stone. Now the gods have tasked them with the responsibility of finding and destroying the Cacica's amulet, the item that allows her to summon and control hupías, bad spirits which wreak havoc on the living. Sounds easy, right? Irene and Alejandro hoped so. Otherwise, the Cacica's first order of business would be sacrificing them to restore their abuelo to his prime so he can stand at her side and conquer everything in their path.

Atabey is one of two supreme deities of the Taino people. She is the goddess of fresh water and fertility. She is also known as Caguana a spirit of Love and Guabancex the violent wild mother of storms, volcanoes and earthquakes. The Taino's used to worship her and hold her on high but she noticed as time went on her people worshiped her less and less as they became more consumed with modern advances. This caused Atabey's powers to diminish and she has become weak. It became difficult for her to watch over the Caribbean. Less and less people believed in her. She looked to the mortals and noticed that many of them have either became lazy, self absorbed, or both. Though there were many advances to modernize the people and make their work lives easier the enviorment around them has been neglected and abuse through the modern advancement. "These mortals have become so self absorbed and gluttonous that they don't realize the how their selfishness causes destruction around them. At this pace no one animal or human will have clean water and I will disappear. What could I do to get their attention to get them to make a change?"

Alberto is the son of Daniel Rodriguez the youngest U.S. 1st star general in decades and an unknown mothers. For the first sixteen years of his life he has done all he could not to bring disruption to his family, but on his sixteenth birthday something happened, his birth mother comes to greet him revealing she is the Goddess Hel and Alberto is her son.

Marisol was born and raise in Puerto Rico. An island known as the island of enchantment. However, Marisol was not able to see the good parts of the island or what it offers and instead wanted to finish her last year of high school and move to the USA. A fateful meeting with a taino girl might be the thing that opens her eyes and the people who live on the island. To what is happening to it and how the taino girl and the island are suffering. Some of the dialogue will be in Spanish, but I will have translation at the end.

Sooo I just watched Wakanda Forever and.... I cried a lot But I think we can all agree that Namor is fineeeeeee. So here we are making a fanfic of him. This fanfic is going to be adding the Taino culture (because I'm puertorican) and the name of the god you see on the title is the god of sun of the taínos, and this will be a male reader because we all love a twink Latino.
