It is said that that The Merchant of Venice is a tragical romantic comedy. The tragedy isn't with he predicament of Shylock. It is the heartbreak of Antonio. The moon doesn't only symbolize happy endings, it is also a symbolism of lost love. Antonio deserved better but Shakespeare didn't do him justice. So I am taking it upon myself.
