You learned what place you had in the kingdom. First was your father. Second was your mother. Third was Rapunzel. And you were just a runner-up. While Rapunzel had beautiful golden locks that damn near hypnotized everyone who walked by, you were born with two budding grey horns on your head. Some said it was a curse. Now you were something semblant of a goat. You didn't know yourself what you were. And you wanted it to stay that way. You wanted to be an heiress to a global superpower. You wanted to be a shining star of a noble. You wanted to be a queen. But Rapunzel marred that dream. You had your sights on that dream for years. Begrudgingly going with Rapunzel and Cassandra to meet some rumored alchemist to find clues about her hair, you met a boy your age, who was entirely uninteresting to you. After all, it's not like he would help you with your goals. At least...that's what you thought at first.

Can he manage to get through to Cass, or will his efforts only attract unwanted attention from an ancient evil that seems to have been pulling the strings all along? Similar to the first book, this one basically reads as a novelization of the third season, while adding my own changes and including Varian in every episode.

In the town of Whitehelm, Utah, it was thought that nothing really exciting happened. It was as normal as any other small town in Utah, or so everyone thought. For the past 17 years, rumors of a missing 1 year old girl from Hurricane, Utah being taken by a family in Whitehelm flooded the streets as the child's parents hired a private investigator. The investigator and his son were natives of Whitehelm, and every year, on her birthday, a girl who was locked in her own house and the back of her "adoptive parents'" restaurant her entire life looks out her bedroom window at the lanterns that were lit and raised into the sky, believing they were made for her, and wishing she could go out and look at them in person. On the day before her 18th birthday, she will finally get her wish, but not in the way she expected.

In the Kingdom of Corona, there are two young women. One, a princess searching for her destiny after her sister's return, the other a handmaiden searching for a past that haunts her day and night. In the midst of all the chaos and mystery surrounding them, Rosalind DerSonne and her mentor Adeline must navigate the messiness of family, friendship, and love.
