For some reason the author chose him as the main character of the story, a Quentin Tarantino-esque story that twists and turns around lies, deceit, greed, and self motivated characters, all with their own intersecting agendas. Set during the early 1920's in a steampunk city called Heatherberg. Not real. Obviously.

Because Black Lagoon was partly inspired by Quentin Tarantino's movies, this story event is greatly based on the opening scene from Reservoir Dogs, my personal favourite Tarantino film.
