When one of Athena's plans backfires, Percy is left in the crossfire and banished to Tartarus. While he is there, he makes surprising discoveries that will change his life forever. Whether the change is for the better or worse remains uncertain. They are good friends, but their relationship is that of a brother and sister. Before Annabeth went off on her quest to find her mother's statue, she and Percy confessed to each other that neither was still in love with the other. They both figured that if what they had was true love, then they wouldn't have been able to even function without the other. And so, they broke off their relationship on friendly terms.
