The air conditioning met my face with a cool, embrace. My forehead cooled as I opened my eyes. I noticed my parents sitting in the dining room, waiting for me. I grinned, panting quietly, "Hey! I was just out for a quick bike ride." I soon realized that their faces seemed stern and almost sad. My smile faltered, "What?". My mother sat with her ankles crossed in her black pencil skirt from work, in fact, she was still in her work clothes. Her bun had a few stray hairs sticking out, that never happens. I strode cautiously over to the table and slid in a chair, "Do you want to talk to me?". My father clutched my mother's hand and said, " Yes, we have some news for you." I crossed my own legs, "Yes?" Lacing my fingers together, I listened. "You've been adopted honey." I blinked," What? But you're my birth parents!" My mother struggled to keep her composure. " We are your birth parents, but someone has offered to adopt you.
