Bucky doesn't like parties and he's made it abundantly clear, and yet he still manages to let Sam coerce him into attending the New Year's Eve party at the newly renovated Avengers Compound. For most people, the beginning of a new year brings about feelings of happiness, excitement and new beginnings, but sometimes, there comes a moment when you have to step back and reflect on what's already there to appreciate the future.

This is a story about friendship and radio silence, panic and loss and about finding something that was really always there. But perhaps this is really a story about lakes, rocks and ripples. Because - at the heart - that's really what 9/11 is. AN: I'm not sure this is absolutely my favorite story, but it is definitely the one I am most proud of. It's not actually a style I'm used to, but I was feeling emotional and inspired and I thought to myself 'let's see where this idea leads' and things had gone off the rails before I realized. This is the story that burned me out, I think, but it's also therapeutic for me because there were some things that needed to come out despite having no 'real' connection to 9/11. Please no spoilers in the comments - I haven't seen The Finale yet -, but I am reasonably certain that there are no spoilers in this story. Just in case, please familiarize yourself with at least up to Season/Series 5 episode 'Fidelity' and know the following characters: Ms. Hudson, Lin, Alfredo, Kitty, Archie and a few others including Mason of the Irregulars. Rating: I have a problem with rating this story, because of a variety of reasons. On the one hand, I understand 'Mature'. On the other, it's 9/11. Fully grown adults back then are still having trouble understanding it now. How is something like this supposed to be categorized? Kids get dragged into natural and manmade disasters and tragedies, but this is on a whole different level and they have to learn about 9/11. If pressed, I can rate it 'M', but I think it is best left 'Unrated'.

But right when you think you can have it all, shit hits the fan again, and Connor is in trouble. If you don't stop the perp, things won't just look bad for Detroit; you'll never have your happy ending. No biggie, right?

What the team doesn't know is that when Tony gets comfortable with the people around them, he gives out little kisses. At first, The Avengers can't really believe that someone would do such a thing, but after a while they start treating the kisses as the highest form of praise, and make a game out of who can receive the most kisses. This was written from a prompt on Pinterest that I absolutely had to fulfill. By far, this is my favorite story I've done.
