Okay , I have this wild idea. Don't judge

We were just a bunch of strangers but fate had other plans. After the worldwide apocalypse we were humanity's only hope. It was hard at first to find them all but once I did it changed all of or lives for good. Piece by piece we brought the world back together battle after battle we fought. Every time something got tough we just fought harder until we pushed through. We always remembered something Mr.Yoshi said "Everyone wants happiness without pain but you can't have a rainbow without a little rain."

A man who came back to his childhood home a nation now in ruin, he plans to reminisce about his life as he's tired of pursuing a goal he thought he could never achieve, he just wants to remember the good times in his life and forget what ever bitterness happened, until a commotion from the nearby woods caught his attention, in it he saw reminders of his past and took it as an opportunity to try and once again pursue that goal, in it he finds a child that unbeknownst to him will change the course of his fate and the fate of many others.
