She sells herself to make sure her siblings are given a chance at a life that she never had. She feeds her mother's addiction hopelessly because that is what it takes for her to be allowed contact with the people she loves more than anything. She wants to take them away from that world and bring them to her own but Quinta knows that a pretend castle built out of the mind of a whore is no place for children. This is what she believes and knows until fate throws her a piece of the heavens and shows her just how hellish her reality can be because her heaven carries a gun and hell has a taste for children.

She grows older, years pass her by until she is too old to be a tribute, safe from the unknown that the old women whisper about underneath their breath. The Queen of the Deep Dark Woods they call her, a beast is what Kyanna hisses back where they can't hear. When her infant nephew is taken as a tribute on her twenty-first birthday, Kyanna has enough. She packs her bag and steals a sword from the old stone chapel, she heads into the Dark Forest that loomed over her, her entire life.
