In the year 2210 AD, the world ends. A gene-editing virus grafts extremophile genes into human DNA. Many flee the planet to Earth or the Moon. The humans left on Earth have to survive an Ice Age; and rebuild human society after mass panic destroyed it. Only a few million remain, living in tribal societies, each different in their customs. The Ice Age itself, the Everwinter, will not kill them because of the cold, but they may kill each other Crazy fanatics threaten to take over the world, and a young man named Eli will have to master and use the strange abilities he has had since his birth. Not only the world hangs in the balance, but the lives of his mother and best friend. War rages, and the only good option is to win.
