Jade learned early that silence was safer than honesty.... At sixteen, she had already mastered the art of hiding bruises & pain... no one could see the kind that lived in her mind or wrapped her thoughts like vines choking a dying tree... Some days she was loud, reckless, unbeatable untouchable And... The other days she couldn't drag herself out of bed without feeling like the world had tied bricks to her chest... there were the voices inside her head-the different versions of herself that fought for control when things became too heavy to carry alone. But whenever Jade tried to explain it, her parents only looked at her like she was a problem to fix instead of a daughter begging to be understood. "You're dramatic." "Is this some kind of joke?" "You just want attention." "Stop acting crazy do you want everyone to laugh at our family?! ." The words burned deeper each time. Her mother and father spent most nights stumbling home from bingo halls smelling like cheap alcohol and cigarette buds.... They were too drunk to notice the cracks spreading through their daughter. The television grew louder than their "family dinner time conversations" ever could. Empty beer bottles crowded the kitchen counters like permanent decorations... Every attempt Jade made to tell them the truth ended the same way-with yelling, accusations, and doors slammed hard enough to shake the walls. So Jade stopped talking. At least to them. Instead, she talked to the people inside her head. The angry one. The fearless one. The broken one. The hurt one. • • • • • • • • • • • A Secondly Original

This isn't really a story, but just a book composed of what I write in my worst moments. I have found that writing in my phones notes brings me peace, so I have decided to share what I think, kind of like a public diary. Definitely not complete now, and if it ever comes to an end will have to be considered at a later time. I have no schedule for updating this story, new parts will just come when I need to write my feelings.

"A girl should be graceful, intelligent, and confident", proclaimed Oni, as she began her class presentation, standing tall and proud of the work she had done. Oni chose to present her idea of what it takes to be a good leader as a woman. She personified the very characteristics she spoke about, though she had her shy moments. "As with any leader, a woman in leadership must work hard and get to know the people she will lead." The trials and triumphs of young girls can be both difficult and amazing. The girls in the town of Tinselee face highs and lows of life, all while learning from each situation. Life as a pre-teen and teenage girl is a myriad of experiences that include issues with self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth, but include cherished moments like gaining friends, achieving goals, and learning more about self. Many times, young girls feel alone or as if no one understands what they are going through. "Femme United" explores the world of a group of girls who, in a variety of ways, overcome life's hurdles and are drawn to a spiritual path where they learn more about themselves and each other. As a young girl, there were times when I felt that there was no one I could express certain things to, so, in turn, I just kept them all to myself. In this novel, I tap into my experiences as a pre-teen and teenage girl as a way to show that no matter what you may face, there is someone who's going through the same thing. I want young girls to never feel as though no one understands or has experienced what they may be confronted with. This novel was also composed to show that though there may be challenging situations you'll face, it's very important to celebrate good times and to continue to build yourself and learn from everything you encounter. Some obstacles will test your spirituality, but holding tight to it will help you get through anything that may come your way. Remember, we all face challenges, but what matters most is what you learn from them.

There are wars no one sees-fought in bedrooms, behind closed doors, and inside the mind. Some of us grow up learning that love is a lie people tell each other between broken things and slammed doors. But even when you're raised in chaos, there's still that quiet ache-wondering if love could be real. If peace exists somewhere. This is the story of a girl who asked those questions too late. A moment of silence. A flash of darkness. Her last living moment... was a whisper asking, "Could things have been different?"
