Student Freddie Abbott is living his best life. Popular, healthy, smart, going places. So when he takes his own life, his family want to know why. Was his death simply a tragic consequence of the pressures of modern life, or was something more sinister at work? Freddie's uncle Ben, a recent divorcee and journalist, sets out into the unfamiliar digital world of another generation to find out. Following his only lead, a card that directs him to a new AI life coach app called #Blessed, Ben begins to live Freddie's life, dropped head first into a world of social media obsession, digital overexposure, torrid romance and a possible government conspiracy. Will #Blessed lead him to Freddie's truth? Or is Ben's new perfect digital life just one more dangerous lie?

And please remember you are not alone. I hope you guys enjoy. It was 1:04 in the morning, and I could hear the sound of rain pouring outside as I laid between the sheets of my twin size bed. It was silent with a small buzzing from the fan placed acrossed the room. My phone was set beside my pillow. I hear a faint ringing. "Hello? It's 1 in the morning, this better be important." His breathing was short as he talked with a husky voice, getting straight to the point. "Shay, shay, I have to talk fast, I want you to know what a great... Bummer! A cliffhanger really? Come on! Guess you'll have to read it.

'Umbilicus' is a coming-of-age story set in South Africa's biggest port city during the dying days of apartheid. The tumultuous zeitgeist of the era mirrors the inner turmoil of an angst-ridden adolescent as she grapples to form an identity and find her place in the world.

Dedication: This poem is for Hannah Baker and for all those like her. It is for those of us who struggle with our body image, and for those of us who struggle with mental illness. I have struggled with mental illness and continue to struggle--but I do have hope. My hope is that whoever watches Thirteen Reasons Why and feels moved by its message, will be kinder to one another, and more aware of the warning signs that someone is hurting. Watch what you say, because words pierce deeper than bullets at times. I will be releasing a book in August of 2019 called "Circle of Dysfunction" based loosely on my life and my struggles with mental illness. I hope all of you will read it, and I will be donating all proceeds from this poem, as well as from my new book, to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). We do crazy things in search of happiness. In search of that person or thing that will bring a smile to our face each day as we wake up. But what if, even with that thing called happiness, that smile doesn't come to my face? What am I supposed to do then? Now all I want is peace. Even if that means watching from afar.
