Phoebe tries to be like every other girl. Aside from a disease which could tear her life apart. Her life is a seemingly endless road of finding purpose and thinking there isn't one. Vernie McGill is a truly good person, one of the few left on this earth. He can see through the lies of materialism in this world. Too bad only one person has ever seen this in Vernie. He has no friends, the only life he knows is through the Quiet Wild.

I got up and got in the shower, the hot water hitting my back and shoulders like bullets that couldn't do any damage. I'd finished showering and was brushing my teeth when there was a weak tapping noise coming from the front door. I never have visitors. I don't want to kill them, but that's my curse. I must kill those who mean the most to me. So, I make it habit to not let anyone mean anything to me. I get up and walk over to the door. Taking a deep breath, I turn the knob and open the door. In the doorway is Rina. Shivering dazed and bloody. Then something shifts in my mind, and I realize she's been drugged. "I didn't know where else to go..." that's all she manages to mumble before collapsing.

Middle school classes are hard for me but I manage.
