Wave Thanapat has always believed that memories belong to the people who lived them. A cartoonist who spends his days creating stories for fictional characters, he never imagined that one day he would begin remembering a life that was never supposed to be his. It starts with strange dreams-an unfamiliar house, a voice calling a name he doesn't recognize, the feeling of holding someone he cannot see, and a goodbye that leaves him waking up with tears in his eyes.
Then, just before an important event with his best friends, North and Teetee, an accident leaves Wave with a broken tooth and sends him to a hospital. That's where he meets Thee Thirati, a dentist he has never seen before. Yet something about Thee feels unsettlingly familiar. The way he smiles. The way he speaks. The feeling Wave gets whenever their eyes meet. It feels less like meeting a stranger and more like finding someone he has been searching for without knowing it.
But Thee isn't the only strange thing in Wave's life. His father becomes unusually quiet whenever the past is mentioned. His grandfather refuses to answer questions about an old family story. An old photograph appears to hold a face that looks impossibly familiar, while fragments of a forgotten tragedy begin appearing in Wave's dreams. The closer Wave gets to Thee, the more his memories become difficult to separate from reality.
There is a story buried somewhere in their families-a story about two people, a love that was never allowed to have a future, and a loss that left a wound lasting for generations. But no one is willing to tell Wave the whole truth. And the more he searches for answers, the more he begins to wonder whether he is uncovering someone else's past... or remembering his own.
Because sometimes, the most frightening thing isn't forgetting someone.
It's remembering that you've already lost them once.
