Tem'jin is the son of Gideon Trueflight, an Araluen Ranger. On the day he was born, the Temujai attack the city in the Middle Kingdoms that his father and mother live at, as Araluen ambassadors. At the annual tribe gathering, the Sha'Shan sees his fighting skill and decides to take him on as a spy. Cristina is apprenticed to Steph, one of the first female Rangers. They are sent to the Middle Kingdoms, with James, the first foreign Ranger (born in the Middle Kingdoms), and Ant, an old, grizzled Ranger soon to retire. What will happen when the Temujai decide to make one final effort to conquer Araluen?
