In a world where humanity retreated beneath the waves generations ago, healer's apprentice Inara Hollowtide has spent her whole life staring at the black line - the boundary where her Brinehold's light gives out and the true trench-dark begins. A year has passed since the fall of Kronos, and Camp Olympion has finally found peace. The sons of the Big Three-Kaelios, Thalassar, and Moros-have become some of the camp's greatest young heroes. But while the demigods celebrate the end of the Titan War, something far older is awakening beyond the realm of gods and mortals. The Primordials-ancient beings who existed before Olympus itself-have begun to fear the growing power of the new generation of demigods. Led by the mysterious force known as Order, they believe the children of the gods have become too powerful to be allowed to live. Then Thalassar returns from Alaska carrying an ancient divine artifact known as the "Tears of Aphrodite", an orb capable of awakening the deepest desires within the hearts of gods and mortals. What begins as the trio's final summer quest quickly becomes something far greater. As strange storms descend upon Camp Olympion, ancient powers stir, alliances are tested, and the boundary between gods, demigods, and Primordials begins to crumble. The Titans were only the beginning. Now, the sons of the Big Three must face a war against beings older than Olympus itself-and this time, the fate of the entire divine world may rest upon their shoulders.
