An alternate ending to The Shattered Castle where no wedding takes place. After the Prozarians have left Carthya, Jaron in the end realizes it is best if he doesn't marry Imogen and breaks his betrothal to her in the Great Hall of his Castle. He will always care for Imogen but he isn't in love with her anymore as he was before. Not after everything that has happened. The story also describes the aftermath of the events across the five books. The kingdom is at peace as Jaron reflects on all that that has happened so far in his life and talks with his friends and his brothers. The wars and battles he has faced have wounded him in ways no one has ever known. His condition is no different than the condition of the castle. But the Castle can be repaired and in some ways he is healing as well. Besides he knows he isn't alone anymore as he has always believed he was. He has people who have become his found family to make him feel more at peace than he ever has.

Jaron wakes up at night after having a nightmare about his time in the Avenian camp and hears his own voices speaking to him. Roden walks in at the worst possible moment and later tries to talk with him.

Jaron rises before dawn with a plan, determined to give his brother Darius a birthday unlike any he has ever known. What begins as teasing banter and too many gifts unfolds into a carefully hidden surprise: a grand celebration that gathers friends, guards, and even reluctant regents, restoring a sense of family long fractured by loss, duty, and silence.

Jaron and Roden nearly get drowned and end up on an island while on a journey on a ship but Jaron doesn't wake up. Recalling Tobias's words to face such a situation Roden does something he feels Jaron won't like when he is awake. (One-shot fic)

What if magic exists in Carthya? Jaron finds a mirror in the treasure cave near Drylliad that transports him back to the past when he was seven years old. It lets him not only see his parents for another last time but he meets his younger mischievous self and help him while trying to not let anyone know he is the current Jaron is from the future. He even gets a chance to have one last talk with his father and tries to close the distance they always had between each other.

(Basically Roden challenged Jaron and they both fall down during their fight. Fink comes in at the wrong moment and misinterprets the whole scenario.) "You're always busy. Fight me Jaron." I raised a brow. "You have an odd way of asking for companionship." A beat passed, then I sighed. "You truly wish to fight?" He grinned, "Afraid to lose?" I glared at him. "I never lose, Roden." I considered him for a moment. After another beat, I added. "Very well. Just, let me get my sword. But if I win, you will stop challenging me for at least a week."

Book reviews for some of my favorite books! I'm hoping that doing this will help me get a better feel for what makes a good book, thus improving my own writing. I'm also hoping you'll share your own favorites with me! My favorite genre is fantasy, so that's what this will be, mostly. I also like a lot of historical fiction, too.

After the Prozarians had left carthya Roden wonders if he ever loved Wilta. Was it only a crush? He didn't know whom he loved. In the end somehow he always returned to Jaron no matter how hard he had tried to do otherwise. Also he had been imagining Jaron in his head a lot more lately. Even when he wasn't here. He didn't know why. Jaron told him that the answer was right before him all the time. A fic based on the song The King by Conan Gray. You don't need to hear the song to read it. Lowkey fits Swoon june prompt: Crush for Wilta/Roden which was all that was I suppose. Actually Roden has a bigger crush on jaron. 🤭

Jaron plans to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of Roden being his captain by taking him on a ledge at night. Or rather to celebrate 2 years of when Roden swore his loyalty to his king and the king of the Avenian pirates, wherever he went. <3 This is a 2 year anniversary fic and hence the title.

What if the porthole in the ship Jaron was sent away on was too small, and he couldn't escape? What if the pirates attacked, with the prince still on the ship? Stranded on an island, with a single another survivor, Jaron finds himself in the home of a tribe. Fighting to learn their way of life to get their acceptance, Jaron must forget everything he once knew. Back at home, the royal family suffers from the loss of a family member. Will they ever be reunited again?

It is Nila's birthday. Roden and Jaron spend a whole day with her.

I remained behind in the throne room, seated at the long table pretending to read a report I had already memorised. Across from me, Harlowe stayed seated, his gaze lingering somewhere beyond the high windows, where the light fell pale and winter-thin across the stone. After a moment, he murmured, almost to himself, "The day is near." I glanced up. "What day?" He smiled faintly, the sort of smile that carried memory rather than mirth. "Roden's birthday. It's next week." I stared at him. "His birthday?" The words surprised me as much as the thought. "Roden never told me."

Chaos, only chaos.

Jaron wants to spend a day with Roden in Benton. Roden overthinks about it. Can be or cannot be thought as Jaroden date fic.

In the year following our wedding, Imogen and I found ourselves at odds, our love tested by the weight of crowns and choices. Her brilliance shone in decisions like reorganizing Drylliad's grain stores or planning a festival to lift spirits, but others-like a risky trade deal or reducing border patrols-faltered, leaving me to mend the fallout. She acted alone, hating to be guided, while I kept secrets, my reckless nature unchanged despite my efforts to explain myself. Arguments grew, sharp and frequent, over her choices and my silence. I covered her mistakes, she challenged my walls, and the space between us widened. Friends like Roden and Mott noticed, their concern heavy, as I wondered if we could keep standing together-or if we were meant to stand apart.

Jaron doesn't like celebrating his birthdays and usually gets sad near it as he still misses his parents but his friends plan to make him smile and give a birthday surprise.
