Maya wakes to find her family gone and narrowly escapes her suburban home, reuniting with her boyfriend Leo at their hidden treehouse, The Fortress. Their survival takes a turn when they discover a nearby clandestine lab broadcasting a "Neural Synchronization" signal. After the heartbreaking realization that Maya's mother is among the infected, the duo infiltrates the facility. They discover Phase Two: a harmonic spike designed to turn the aimless creatures into hyper-aggressive hunters. In a final, violent confrontation, Maya jams a high-ranking operative in an elevator, severing his hand with an axe to destroy his manual override. With the primary transmitter destroyed, the local "Blind" return to their aimless state.
