Ezra was a ten-year-old orphan living in the dusty streets of Israel. When he was only four years old, his parents were killed by soldiers of the Roman Empire, leaving him completely alone in a harsh and unforgiving world.
With no family to care for him, Ezra learned to survive the only way he could-by stealing food from markets and crowded streets. Hunger pushed him to do things he never wanted to do, but he had no other choice. People in the city soon began to recognize him. They called him names like "street rat" and "thief," chasing him away whenever they saw him near their stalls.
No one showed him kindness. No one offered him a home. Love was something Ezra barely remembered from the early years of his childhood.
But Ezra's life was about to change.
One day he would meet Jesus Christ, the Son of God-and for the first time, someone would see him not as a thief or a nuisance, but as a boy worthy of compassion, hope, and love.
