General Kirigan was intrigued, to say the least. Anya Petrova was an enigma that he desperately wanted to solve. She was always so bubbly and bright, he was surprised she wasn't a Sun Summoner. She seemed to bring happiness to everyone around her with her ever-changing hair color and witty comments. She was a Tailor brought to the Little Palace at the same time as Genya Safin and they instantly clung like glue to each other. But the thing Aleksander was worried about was what he felt when he was near her. He felt light and heavy at the same time. He didn't really know if he liked it or not. This is an AU where the Fold does not exist. Kirigan did not use merzost and he's not immortal. There's not much drama in this story, mainly just a little bit of angst and fluff. Genya never got gifted to the queen but she still does have to do stuff for her.

Alina married Aleksander, and things didn't go as planned once he became king and she became queen. Clearly she misjudged the relationship between him and one Zoya Nazyalenskya. Alina is not the Sun Summoner, or has not been discovered yet, I leave that to you, the reader.

Behind him, a monster ten feet tall, made of shadow, forms in a menacing stance, ready to carry out his silent orders. I thought I had seen the last of his nichevo'ya a long time ago when we were on opposing sides of the war. I shake my head. "No. No, what are you doing? Wait!" I send the Cut barrelling at the monster. It dissociates into nothing only for another one to take its place. Again, I send the Cut through the abomination, but it was only a diversion. Another one forms behind me, capturing my arms to prevent me from summoning. It holds me above the ground. I kick and scream, but it covers my mouth with its long, slender arm, the other holding me securely to its chest. My breath is labored as I use all of my strength to fight it. It is futile. The Darkling approaches me, stroking his fingers across my cheek as a way to comfort me. It is hard, however, to comfort someone if you are the cause of the distress. "I will do anything in my power to protect you, my Dear Alina. Anything."

The darkling and Alina are readying for the final battle in the fold, when the darkling's use of merzost results in something impossible. He forces something, that isn't meant to exist, into reality. A girl from two decades into the future. This is not a self insert and let's just say the girl and the darkling's relationship is not romantic. In fact, she's got another kind of relation to him.
