The Draft. Everyone was aware of the Draft. The belltower only chimed on these dreaded days. These were the days everyone in the village was required to meet in the town square so that they may see their children, grandchildren, their brothers, their sisters, their neighbor's names drawn out of a jar. Only the names of those that were young and fit for the job of soldiers are put in the jar. Teenagers. Those chosen were given a chance to walk through a garden of eggs. Dragon eggs. Told to pick one so that they may go into War against the Corrupted with a fighting chance. So, imagine my surprise and utter dread when my name was called.
