When Elise was five, her father disappeared forever. When Elise was thirteen, her mother died from cancer, leaving her to live with her terrible step father and step brothers. The best part of Elise's day is when she goes to bed at night, because her dreams take her and her fictional friend, Jack, on adventures she'd never imagined... But after something terrible happens, leaving Elise alone, she meets someone who strangely reminds her of Jack. Elise then starts to wonder if maybe dreams aren't just dreams, and life may actually be worth living.
