A girl called Hannah has been in care since a very young age, she didn't know any different. There was a fire in her old care home forcing all of the residents to be rehoused as the damage was too severe to fix. All of Hannah's friends were split up and sent to different care homes but the one that Hannah got sent to was somewhere called Elm Tree House.

Johnny Taylor has been training with the army for nearly a year when he makes a surprise visit to The Dumping Ground. Whilst Tee is over the moon to see Johnny again, Mike and May-Li cannot help but worry that there is something more to Johnny's visit. The inspiration for this story came from Bolton Smilie's less than heroic return to Waterloo Road, during series 8 episode 16.
