A hundred years have passed since the death of the Crown Prince. The war is long forgotten, and the legend of Gu-cheon and the ak-gwi has spread throughout the kingdom. Peace has finally settled over the palace... or so everyone believes. On another restless night, Ok-bun, a young court lady haunted by strange dreams, wanders toward the palace pond. Beneath the moonlight, she sees the creature from her nightmares standing before her. An ak-gwi, its body tangled in thorns and flowers. "I will bring an end to every civilian in this palace," it whispers. The next morning, no one believes her. Now Ok-bun has two choices: remain silent and allow the spirit to consume a kingdom that has no idea what is coming... Or join forces with Dol-seok, a descendant of Gu-cheon and the very man she despises; the fugitive accused of murdering the king. But if the legend is true, saving the palace may mean uncovering the truth behind what happened a hundred years ago. And the ak-gwi may not be the only thing that survived.
