The Empire had it's defectors (Han Solo, Wedge Antilles, Biggs Darklighter, Agent Kallus), and the First Order is determined to avoid being taken down by people who once believed in the cause. After the fall of the Republic and the Jedi Purge, a new Empire rises and it seems all hope is lost, all that remains for the remaining Jedi to try their best to survive, until the Rebellion begins and hope persists again. This is the sequel to "The War" and follows the same characters from the first book.
