The thirty-second entry of the 2022-2023 Film Journal focuses on "The Green Knight" and has me taking a look at why the Arthurian legends remain so compelling after all these centuries.

This short story is based on the Arthurian legend of Sir Gawain. It takes place during the legend of the green knight.

"Remember that, if that is all that you remember of me." When a mysterious figure appears at the New Year's Feast, Gawain offers to take his uncle's place in facing this seemingly invincible apparition. This takes a dangerous turn when Gawain has to leave the next year for the return blow-one that will sever his head from his neck.

There are a ton of legends and stories revolving around King Arthur, ruler of Camelot, and his brave Knights of the Round. Some stories conflict with each other. Others have been altered through numerous retellings. You may have even seen a "realistic" approach with a robust historical nod or a version filled with fantasy and magic. This is a simplified, fantasy-filled retelling of those tales. This collection covers the life of the renowned wielder of the Sword in the Stone and some stories about his favored knights, including the tales of Lancelot, Gawain, Bors de Ganis, and many others.
